You can actually make your five senses more acute than they are, by following a few simple tips.
To start with, how can you improve your sense of touch? When you touch something, the sense of touch is much stronger when you look at the part of the body that's touching something. Scientists have found that this results in greater activity in the part of the brain regulating sensation. This works both ways. Haven't you found, for instance, that an injection doesn't hurt as much when you look away?
Are you aware that by smiling, you can actually improve your sense of hearing? That's because a set of muscles that make the muscles of your middle-ear tense are also involved in reversing your frown into a smile. Amazingly, it results in lowering by nearly 20 decibels all low frequency sounds that might interfere with your ability to hear someone speak. These include the noise of traffic, and the hum of an air-conditioner, among others.
If you want your food to be more tasty, smell it first. That's the way to intensify your sense of taste.
Boil water. Your sense of smell becomes more acute when smells pass through a curtain of warm, moist air which helps the smell to become part of the membrane through which it passes before reaching smell receptors in your brain.
Look down on your computer monitor, if you want better eye-sight.This simply means, change the position of your computer monitor to enable this. When you look down, your eyes aren't open as wide, and therefore don't get exposed to air that dries your cornea, causing eye strain.
The best part of heightening your senses is that you will be even more alive to the joys of Sudoku.
